The International comics symposium will take place from October 20th to 22nd Angoulême’s International Comics and Visual arts center.

This year, the international Comic Strip symposium, organised by the International Comics and Visual arts center of Angoulême, in conjunction with Angoulême, the Ministery of culture, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and Greater Angoulême, bring together international figures of comics, invited to debate on ongoing issues. This year’s edition will focus on Comic strip : a living heritage – History of arts, heritagization and transmission.

This year, the Creative Cities of Literature will exchange on their practices on comics and heritage. Pr. Sang-Jung Han from Bucheon (Korea), Szymon Kloska, Krakow Festival (Poland), writers John Chalmers and Sandra Marrs (Metaphrog) of Edinburgh (Scotland), and Thomas-Louis Coté, General Director of Québec BD will share their experience.

The international Comic Strip symposium questions a major issue in cultural history : patrimony. How to develop a better knowledge and conservation of the 9th art, living heritage in constant creative and technical evolution?
