On January 30, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.m, all French people were invited to stop their activities for a few minutes and read a comic strip.

For the beginning of the year of the comic strip, a big appointment was given to the French. The idea? Everyone chose a comic book and read it at the date and time said. A great reading event inspired by quiet school times.
An operation promoted in collaboration with the Media Partners of the Festival (France Télévisions and France Inter) who made short video presentations carried by the main journalists of these media (Antoine de Caunes, Nagui, Léa Salamé,..), cultural personalities and among the greatest comic book authors of today (Joan Sfar, Riad Sattouf Florence Cestac…) A total of 27 video clips broadcast on the Festival’s social networks, France Télévisions and France Inter. But also a great poster campaign, especially in the Paris metro.

On 30 January, the official opening day of the Angoulême Festival, festival-goers and people of Angouleme were invited to visit the forecourt of the Town Hall at 1 pm. On this occasion, the Minister of Culture Franck Riester launched the operation with Xavier Bonnefont, mayor of Angoulême, and Franck Bondoux, general delegate of the Festival.

In Angoulême, more than 16 200 comic books, gifted by the publishers, were given for free and 28 schools and social centers took part to this event.
