Comic strip competition «  post-pandemic city » has its winner. Organised in partnership with the City of comics and visual arts, this competition had the ambition to stimulate utopian ideas, awareness and cultures from all over the world, the intention was to share a collective reflection on the future of our cities in regards of many questions that were raised by the COVID-19 pandemic.

18 artists from 10 cities, including the Creative Cities of Literature – Bucheon (Republic of Korea), Nanjing (China), Ulyanovsk (Russian Federation), Quebec (Canada), Reykjavik (Iceland) and Slemani (Iraq), and the sister cities of Hildesheim (Germany), Hoffman Estates (USA) et Turda (Romania) have produced a comic book on their vision of the future city.
The project by Brigitte Archambault (Quebec) was selected and awarded by the jury. The artist will be invited to Angoulême during the FIBD in June 2021.

Brigitte Archambault, born in 1973, lives in Montreal. After graduating with a degree in Fine
Arts, her career debuted with solo and group painting and sculpture exhibitions in galleries in Quebec. Concurrent with this, she worked on animated film projects, including her own short films. More recently, she has found the time to realize a dream: that of creating her first comic book, Le Projet Shiatsung. The album won the Réal-Filion Prize at the Festival Québec BD and the Comic Prize at the Salon du livre de Trois-Rivières, in addition to a special mention at the Bédélys Awards at the Montreal Comic Arts Festival.

All the entries will be brought together in an exhibition entitled “the city of the future”, presented during the FIBD in Angoulême. The exhibition will also be available for circulation in the participating cities. A scientific analysis carried out by the Urban School of Lyon is also foreseen to accompany the exhibition.
