Angoulême UNESCO Creative City of Literature celebrates International Francophonie Day.

Every year, on March 20th, the International Day of La Francophonie is celebrated around the world. This date refers to the birth, on March 20th, 1970 in Niamey (Niger), of the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation, which was to become the International Organization of La Francophonie.
In 2021, the Secretary General of La Francophonie wished to include the celebrations of the International Day of La Francophonie under the theme “Francophone Women, Resilient Women”.

La francophonie echoes throughout the world thanks to culture in all its diversity: cinema, theatre, music et of course literature !
For the occasion Angoulême UNESCO creative city’s town hall displays the flag of the Francophonie.
