Angoulême welcomes the French UNESCO creative cities at the occasion of the French-speaking film festival of Angoulême.

On Sunday, 29th August, M. Xavier Bonnefont Mayor of Angoulême and M. Gérard Desaphy, City Councillor in charge French-speaking and creative city projects, hosted a meeting with the French UNESCO creative cities Metz, Limoges and Enghien-les-bains and the French National Commission for UNESCO represented by its President M. Yves Saint Geours and General Secretary M. Alexandre Navarro.

A day dedicated to the common cooperation projects between Angoulême, the French creative cities (Metz, Limoges, Enghien-les-bains, Saint-Etienne et Lyon), Beirut, Nanjing (China), or Zapopan (Mexico). Among the discussed initiatives :

– « Nafas » programme, cofinanced by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the French Ministry of Culture  : this project aims at welcoming Lebanese artists in France, in several creative cities.

Support to the Lebanese cinema by Angoulême Municipality and the French-speaking film festival of Angoulême with a week of projections of films of past editions in Beirut in March 2022 for the Francophony International Day.

– On the initiative of UNESCO and Literature creative cities Angoulême and Nanjing, a project of travelling residency of one artist of each city through the UNESCO creative cities network of all cultural clusters.

Confluence creative programme with Zapopan/Guadalajara directed by Greater Angoulême for the creation of an author’s house, a « Creative Media » masters degree and an incubator for creative companies.
